Our Story
The Texas Iron Spikes was founded in the Fall of 1994 by a group of young men seeking to create an organization that would positively impact both their university and the surrounding community. At the same time, they wanted to foster strong fraternal bonds through intramural sports, Texas sporting events, and social functions. Each founding member felt that there was no existing organization on campus that fully aligned with these goals, inspiring them to establish a premier organization that embodied their vision, but also upheld their values, personal integrity, and academic excellence.
The founding members took their passion for the University of Texas one step further by becoming the official men’s spirit group for the Texas Baseball team. They believed this role would attract well-rounded individuals who shared a commitment to both service and school spirit. Through America’s favorite pastime, the Texas Iron Spikes found a powerful platform to bring people together while promoting unity, pride, and involvement across campus.
From its inception, the Texas Iron Spikes have been dedicated to selecting and developing future leaders, both at the university and beyond. Members are expected to embody the values outlined in the organization’s vision and creed and to live by them daily. Throughout its history, strong leaders have emerged from Texas Iron Spikes, leaving a lasting legacy on campus. Many alumni have gone on to receive prestigious university honors and hold membership in other distinguished organizations.
Over the years, young men have continued to join the Texas Iron Spikes not only because they respect its vision, but because they believe in how it is carried out. Built on a foundation of brotherhood and service, the Texas Iron Spikes quickly distinguished itself, earning both Most Outstanding Service Organization and Best Overall Organization within its first five years, establishing a legacy that continues to shape the organization today.
